Our Weather--- Monsoons and HEAT-No it is NOT A Dry Heat!!

I never knew what a monsoon was till I moved here. I came from WA where it rains and rains and rains. So when they started talking about rain in the desert I laughed--I was wrong.. Here is an explaination from our local paper regading the monsoons that are due to start soon. We are hit and miss in this area and though we have had damage and problems, we generally don't get hit as hard as other areas.

KINGMAN — Monsoons bring much needed moisture to an arid Southwest every summer, but they can cause deadly flooding in Mohave County.Monsoon comes from the Arabic word “mausim,” which means season. The word monsoon actually means the shift in the wind direction, not the precipitation it brings.
Mohave County gets precipitation in two forms. Winter storms from the Pacific Ocean bring rain and snow to the county. The summer monsoon season brings lightning, thunderstorms, strong winds, torrential but brief rains and flash flooding. Tornados and hurricanes are rare in Arizona, but both have occurred in the state’s recorded history.During a flash flood, residents should get to higher ground and stay away from flood-prone areas. Do not cross flowing streams. Six inches of fast flowing water is all it takes to sweep someone off their feet. Flooded roads can have hidden damage. Never drive through floodwaters or a flooded road. Water two feet deep can sweep away most cars, according to the county flood control division.
During the summer months, a high pressure cell forms over the Four Corners area of Arizona and New Mexico. The intense heating of the desert also creates rising air and surface low pressure, according to the Las Vegas National Weather Service. Both phenomenons brings a shift of the wind pattern, bringing moist air in a south or southeasterly direction rather than the drier westerly flow that occurs in the rest of the year.
The winds bring moisture up into Arizona, mostly from the Gulf of California and even from the Gulf of Mexico. When the moisture encounters higher elevations, it builds up massive thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, hail and gusty winds. In Mohave County, the monsoon pattern is more hit and miss compared to Phoenix, Tucson and the southeast section of the state where the monsoon pattern is more consistent on a daily basis. Thunderstorms will hit Mohave County for several days, with several days of a drying out period.
Monsoon storms normally start in July and last until earlier September. Any year can be a bad monsoon season, but it is rare not to have a monsoon season. The last several years in this county have brought normal monsoon storms.Bullheads City’s average monthly rainfall for July is about 0.38 inches, 0.70 inches in August and 0.45 inches in September. The average annual rainfall for Bullhead City is about 7 inches.
An average monsoon thunderstorm also can generate wind gusts from 30 mph to 40 mph, with severe storms creating gusts 60 mph to 80 mph. Although no documented data exists for Mohave County, wind gusts more than 100 mph can occur in severe thunderstorms.

Go To The Ant.... Prov 6:6-8

See one of my ants? I enjoy the mornings and the evenings when then are out working. .. From our tree to our back yard, is two long line of ants.. One direction they are dragging little tiny seeds from our tree to their home. Then the other direction are the ones that are heading to the tree to get more seeds. It's like an ant interstate. They struggle and struggle but keep going, lugging their heavy load. . Ok, it is cheap entertainment, I know..

David & Goliath in Brandon's Words

BH TO BHC-Update

If you read my post below you're aware of the difficulties at my daughter's job.  I am happy to report my daughter's remaining days at work will be peaceful, as long as this person remains away from the store.  Another meeting took place yesterday with another employee who suffered similiar treatment and the problem has been resolved. The person is "No longer with the company". Now my daughter will be able to extend her final work week to add another week. The other employee who was also quitting will be able to extend her quit date too. The third employee will not have to "tough it out, till August". Sigh.... Incase there is any question. I am not rejoicing in the downfall of this person at all. In fact I am praying for her. Clearly she is in need of prayer.

Also, remember to vote for the car (in post below) daily. Lets get this car to the winner spot and spotlight brain cancer.

Beverly Hills to Bullhead ?

My daughter has been in a tough work evironment for some time now. She stuck it out in hopes to get transfer to a store in WA. Yesterday, she had a major meeting with management regarding treatment from a supervisor. The outcome was in her favor . The supervisor is on 'notice' now and one wrong move and it could be the end for her. My DD also has the right at any point to walk out with full pay for this week. You can bet that I was in the parking lot during the meeting in "Momma bear & Cop mode" waiting, if I  needed to storm the store. I also hid in the parking lot later that day till the offending party left as my DD started her shift. . As expected this person wanted to corner my daughter in private and per my instructions my DD did not allow it. You can be assured I will be in the parking lot (if the offending party is nearby) till my DD's last day this saturday. . My DD is trying to do things properly, be honest, and stick it out maturely and with her head held high. She also did it for the remaining employees who also have their battles with this person to face in the near future. I am very impressed with her!! She was VERY brave to go through all this.

My title respresents where this person came from and where she is now. She has ties to the 'rich and famous' but decided to walk away from it all (or so she says) to live a quieter life. I think that she has forgotten what is like in the real world and that people are not "staff' to be push around. the other two employees are about to leave too. One already gave their two weeks notice 1 month earlier than planned, after an incident and the other is deciding her best move. Oh by the way, the first crew working under this person quit on the same day and this resulted in my DD and this current crew being hired quickly. Upper managment is watching this situation very close and I feel they will be handling it regardless that my DD is leaving. . I think it's just a matter of time. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out this week.

I am boycotting this store till I see fresh faces in there! LOL

Our Last Youth Group Meeting

Tonight was our last King's Kids meeting. We are taking a summer break. Mike chose Bible verses for each child to read, during his devotion. I enjoy hearing my almost 8 year old reading, but it is really great to hear him reading from the Bible! Then they had playtime outside. THEN they came back inside and we filled them up with sugar. LOL. Hmm, I think we did that backwards!

2 Tim 3:15- And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus..
