Arizona's No Non Sense Approach

The different between California and Arizona... LOL..Thanks Dad for sharing this e mail with me.

California

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out, bites the Governor and attacks his dog.

1. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi", then realizes he should stop; the coyote is only doing what's natural.

2. He calls Animal Control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 for testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.

3. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the state $200 for testing it for disease.

4. The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for disease from the coyote and for getting his bite wound bandaged.

5. The running trail is shut down for 6 months, while Fish & Game conducts their $100,000 survey to make sure the area is free of dangerous animals.

6. The Governor next spends $50,000 in state funds, implementing a "Coyote Awareness" program for residents of the area.

7. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease, throughout the world.

8. The Governor's security agent is fired for not somehow stopping the attack  and for letting the Governor attempt to stop the attack.

9. Additional cost to State of California : $75,000 to hire and train a new security agent with additional special training re: The Nature of Coyotes.

10. PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files suit against the state.

Arizona

The Governor of Arizona is jogging, with her dog, along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks her dog.

1. The Governor shoots the coyote with her state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow-point cartridge.

2. Arizona buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke.

Teaching Phonics

My school day is a little bit like this.... Thanks Jo Jo  for posting it on your blog. I enjoyed it so much I am sharing it.

Vanity

Here is a poem I wrote after watching a stupid tabloid show. I should not have watched it.. I know better. So, here ya go Lindsay L and Mel Gibson.  And all the other people, Hollywood or not, who think they are above the law or more importantly living without one thought about what God thinks, Romans 10:3-For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God..  We all get self absorbed at times. We all sin, we all make mistakes. Romans 3:23-For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God .I thank God that through his mercy there is forgivness and a fresh start for those who seek him.Titus 3:5 --Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...Sin comes with consequences, Proverbs 13:15... But the way of the trangressor is hard and Romans 6:23-For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. However, we can obtain mercy and strength through God if we ask.  Hebrews 11:6- But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I am glad that God offers us an out to our sin our pride and vanity. He's put it in his word and we can get victory over it through prayer and submission to his word. Even for Linsday and Mel G. I know it's something that I am praying about for myself  in my life. I need more submission to God's word and less worrying about what others think about me, if I do.  All that matters is what God thinks about me, so if THAT is vanity too, so be it. I want to hear "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" someday.

Vanity

Why can' t you see,
It's all about me?
There is nothing in life
more important than me.

I see my beauty and need
constant praise.
All that I do
is on constant display.

If you reach out to me,
I am too busy to see.
The things that you need,
They won't concern me.

My life is just this -
It's for all to see.
There is nothing more important
Than my vanity.

Speak To Me, Dear Lord

Speak to me like a gentle breeze
And let my spirit soar.
Speak to me loud and clear,
Just like a lion's roar.

Keep my heart soft and tender
As you work on me each day.
Let the cares of the day
Quickly leave and fade away

I Won! I Won! --Again!!

I've done other posts on this author before, on my old blog.  I really enjoy her books. I entered another of her contests and won an early released copy. This is book three in her Seasons in Sugar Creek Trilogy I hate to see it end. It's due to hit the book stands in August. But I am sure she has another series in the works. Right Shelley? As I've said before I just love her books. They are very a good read.   You can see all of her books by clicking HERE  Shelley, when is the actual release date?  I am anxiously keeping an eye on my mail box. LOL.  Thanks, Shelley!

Blog Changes

I am still in the process of tweaking my blog to my liking. So far, this week, I have added a chat box. My Swagbucks link  (Sure would like more folks to sign up and earn points--hint hint.. It's free, ya know). Now, I've added a link to keep track of our blistering weather. You can find it below my chat box.

I am still deciding what I want to do with the color.  Should I leave it plaid like it is, or get a solid purple? I would like a different blog title and am still asking for suggestions. Anyone have one?

What Do You Do When It's 124 Outside?

You go for a walk! We went for a walk around our community lake (big pond). Ok, it was only 122 when we went for the walk. IT WAS HOT!! We got halfway around the lake when Mackenzie and I started to feel a little ill--go figure.

We Interrupted This Blog for ANOTHER Commercial Endorsement

I found this product at Wal*Mart (actually it found me). I was listening to another shopper who was telling another shopper about this product. Arizona water is HARD. If you don't have a water softner system in your house, the hard water ruins your dishes and makes it impossible to have clean dishes out of the dishwasher. Your dishes and tupperware come out coated. I could not use Cascade or Jet Dry--nothing worked. I've battled this for 1 year now and I've tried just about every product (including Vinegar) on the market-till I found this. This stuff is incredible!!. Our dishes are back to sparkling, the dishwasher is bright, clean and our silverware is shiny! Even our dingy tupperware is back to looking new again. It is well worth few bucks I paid at WM for it. I can even use it along with Cascade.

It can be used to clean other items too,. See their website..

Too Cute Not To Share

Today Mike, Brandon and I went to Vegas to Nellis AFB. I needed a new Id card. Julia is still on the road headed up to WA and has been keeping in touch via text messages.  Along the way, she text me this picture. This is her Cockatiel, who is ,apparantly helping with the driving. And we were worried how he would do on the long  trip up there!!  LOL.

P.S. Those are not Julia's hands. Those belong to her Grandpa. Hee Hee.

Cookie Jar

I spent a lot of time at my Nana's house. I also spent a lot of time eating cookies from this cookie jar. Nana always had it filled up with sugar cookies or ginger snaps. When Nana died, the cookie jar went to my step grandma. My step grandma died last year and my mom gave me the cookie jar. Wow, what memories this little stage coach brings back.

The cookie jar is stamped on the bottom 1956..

Birthday

Saturday night we met friends at Chili's for dinner. We were celebrating Julia's 19th birthday (one day early). The staff came out and sang Happy Birthday to her. They also gave her some free ice cream.  Even the people in the back ground cheered her on. LOL.. Today, she left and is on her way to WA to live with my mom and step dad. They came down and picked her up. it was a challenge getting all her stuff into the van.  She wants to go to a certain school up there. It is strange, already, not having her here. It was an emotional day and I am exhausted.
